Sebastian Vettel to Aston Martin could be a reality by the 2nd of August, with reports stating that Sergio Perez is already looking for another team.
The Sebastian Vettel to Aston Martin move might indeed be happening, after all. This comes after reports from Germany claimed that the 4 time F1 World champion has agreed to race for Aston Martin in 2021. According to fresh reports from ESPN Mexico, the announcement date could be August 2nd.
ESPN México reports that Checo’s agent has been in contact with Haas and Alfa Romeo for *weeks*, which pretty much confirms that Vettel and Lawrence Stroll have held negotiations as reported.

This could potentially mean Sergio Perez’s departure from the Racing Point/Aston Martin outfit. The Mexican driver has a long-term contract with them, but it can be voided if the exit clause is activated before July 31.
However, with Lawrence Stroll at the helm of it all, it seems like between Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez, it will be Perez who will face the axe.
What next for Sergio Perez if he faces the axe?
According to ESPN Mexico, Perez’s agent Julian Jacobi has been in talks with different teams to secure a F1 seat for his client. The most likely options, in this case, seems to be Haas or Alfa Romeo.
Haas could be looking to replace Romain Grosjean after his inconsistent performances of late. On the Alfa Romeo front, it could be either Antonio Giovinazzi or Kimi Raikkonen to make way for Perez.
Giovinnazi has spoken of feeling the pressure to perform to confirm his seat for 2021. Kimi, meanwhile, could confirm his retirement at the end of the 2020 season.

With Perez not keen to leave F1, he may well compromise with a seat in either Haas or Alfa Romeo.
F1 fans would be waiting for Racing Point Team Principal’s presser on Friday, ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Otmar Szafnauer had earlier expressed Aston Martin’s interest to being in Sebastian Vettel.
It would be interesting to note what Otmar has to say about the ongoing Sebastian Vettel-Sergio Perez saga. If he indeed hints it would be Perez to make way, expect a backlash from the F1 community.
The hashtag #keepcheco is already trending in Mexico and elsewhere. Sergio’s sister Paola Perez has posted a picture with the hashtag on Instagram.
