Sergio Perez to join Red Bull with Alex Albon role to be re-defined

Sergio Perez to join Red Bull with Alex Albon continuing with the team and his role will be re-defined within the team as a co-driver.

Sergio Perez was long speculated with Red Bull, and his latest position gives him a contention to grab a seat in the Austrian team for the 2021 season.

With the speculation of Ted Kravitz giving this tip-off, it has been claimed that Sergio Perez will be joining the team, while Alex Albon, who he is meant to replace will remain in the team and be given a title of co-driver.

” We are expecting an announcement tomorrow or maybe in the next coming week that… we are expecting that they are going to announce that Sergio has joined the team and that Alex is staying on at the team as a test and reserve and they might even share the drive.” claimed the source.

An impractical move to accommodated Sergio Perez and Alex Albon together?

The move could be a disaster by Red Bull in long run, as customization of a car is on the basis of the height and size of a driver. The other solution to it that Red Bull can manufacture three cars, but it will be a costly affair.

Moreover, the dominance Verstappen enjoys in Red Bull could be conflicting if Perez joins the rank, which was at first the biggest reason for Daniel Ricciardo’s exit as the team allegedly gave preference to the Dutch driver in the last couple years of Ricciardo’s time at Red Bull.
