Soccer Expert Analogizes Red Bull Can Never Be Above Ferrari; Like $7,450,000,000 Manchester United Will Always Be More Valuable Than Manchester City

Red Bull’s success in F1 over the last two decades has made them a force to reckon with. However, even though they are a big name today, things weren’t always so bright for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit. They are new to the sport, and unlike Ferrari, have a lot to achieve before they can be claimed as a historic team. This led to former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan comparing Red Bull and Ferrari with Manchester City and Manchester United respectively.

Manchester City is an old soccer club too but unlike their neighbors Manchester United, they don’t have an illustrious past. It was only after a cash injection from Abu Dhabi came in, did City kickstart its era of success. As of late, no team in England has been as strong or consistent as them. This year, they lifted the English Premier League title once again- their fifth victory in six years.

Similarly, Red Bull came into F1 when they bought Jaguar out in 2004. Since then, a tremendous amount of money has gone into making them successful, and they have won the constructors’ title five times. Legendary drivers like Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen have made them a household name among sports fans today.

Regardless of Manchester City and Red Bull’s success in their respective sports, they don’t fall in the same category as Ferrari and Manchester United according to Jordan. This is because the latter two teams have not just been around for a long time, but have been successful since day one.

Why Simon Jordan believes Ferrari and Manchester United are similar

During a show on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan made a fitting comparison between F1 teams and soccer clubs from England. Red Bull and Manchester City were painted in a similar light because of their glittering trophy haul in recent years. However, he feels that they won’t ever be as valuable as Ferrari or Manchester United. No buyer would ever want to purchase a club like City for over $7 billion.

“United are Ferrari, City are Red Bull!” Jordan claims. “Nobody in the world would buy City for $7,450,000,000! But people would buy United for that!”

Jordan doesn’t disregard City’s achievements or question their status as the world’s best soccer team. Their massive trophy haul and dominance in England speaks for itself. On the other hand, clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have a legacy. Jordan believes that City have a long way to go before people look back, and identify theirs.

Will Red Bull manage to match Ferrari’s legacy in the future?

Back in F1, Ferrari is the most successful F1 team of all time. Even though they haven’t won a world championship since 2008, their loud and loyal fans don’t stop supporting them, and they are still regarded as a giant of the sport. This is because of their illustrious past, and the numerous accolades they can boast.

Red Bull have won many titles in the recent years, but no matter how good they get, their legacy won’t be matching that of Ferrari’s, at least in the near future. For the Austrian team to match Ferrari’s level of legacy, it is vital that they continue on the same path of domination, and maybe several years later, people will look back on the team’s origins, and find their journey to top inspiring.

Max Verstappen, who is one of the biggest stars in F1, has driven for Red Bull his whole life. His immense popularity has earned him many fans, who have become fans of the team as a result. If he continues to win titles and break records with the Milton-Keynes-based squad, it is possible that a new generation of fans start becoming fans of this team. This would put them on the correct road in becoming a historic team in F1, with a history to be proud of.
