"They are working on an idea to allow the race to take place with half the spectators"- Monaco GP is safe

“They are working on an idea to allow the race to take place with half the spectators”- Monaco Grand Prix is under no threat of cancellation.

Monaco Grand Prix was speculated to come under the threat of cancellation this year. Still, the authorities have assured that the calendar’s iconic race will go according to the plan.

“Despite the latest rumours circulating on certain websites and social media, the ACM can confirm the Monaco GP will take place from 20-23 May 2021,” read a social media post.

“The ACM also confirms the Grand Prix Monaco Historique (23-25 April 2021) and the Monaco E Prix (8 May 2021).” On the other hand, PlanetF1 also claimed to contact an F1 Spokesperson, who provided inside Intel to them.

“We have set out the details of the revised 2021 calendar, and there are no other changes. The suggestion street races will not take place are completely wrong.”

Half spectators in the venue- Helmut Marko

Red Bull chief Helmut Marko has now further given an unofficial update, which further clarifies that Monaco Grand Prix might not be cancelled and could also host spectators.

“I heard they are working on an idea to allow the race to take place with half the spectators who can normally be welcomed,” he said, quoted by FormulaPassion.it.

Therefore, Monaco GP, which is more of a celebration than a race, can now be relied upon. Amidst the vulnerable 2021 calendar. Earlier there were doubts that the event could be cancelled, and to replace it circuits like Portimao and Algarve would have been considered.

F1 is yet to declare the replacement of abandoned Vietnam GP slot. Still, most probably it will be a circuit within Europe to reduce logistical and infrastructure limitations, and considering the following races in the later weeks are in the same region.
