Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and his wife Susie are one of the most influential couples in the F1 paddock. Wolff married Susie in 2011 while they both enjoyed their individual careers in motorsport.
But, the Silver Arrows boss believes that he has done more harm than good to his wife’s career.
Wolff is inarguably one of Formula 1’s fiercest team principals having clinched 8 constructors titles. He also saw Lewis Hamilton claim 6 titles for the Silver Arrows. Meanwhile, his wife, Susie was a test driver for the Williams F1 team and had a promising future ahead of her.
However, in an old interview with Motorsport, Wolff blamed himself for ruining Susie’s career.

Why does Toto Wolff blame himself?
The Austrian said that Susie has a big character and she was at Mercedes before Toto entered. He stated that it makes him sad that he is aware of doing ‘more harm than good’ to Susie’s racing career.
She is often described as ‘the wife of Toto Wolff’ and the Mercedes boss thinks that it is unfair. He further revealed that there are advertising contracts that Susie could not conclude because of Toto and the conflict of interest.

Toto Wolff is working on Lewis Hamilton’s contract extension
Mercedes saw an end to its 8-year of dominance in motorsport in the 2022 season and Lewis Hamilton saw his chances of winning his record 8th title fade away.
However, going ahead, the Silver Arrows hope to make a stronger return to the top of the grid but there is one more thing that needs to be concluded heading into the 2023 season.
Mercedes’ star driver Hamilton’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2023 season and the team is yet to sign an extension.
The 37-year-old has been with the Silver Arrows since the 2013 season and while he is only the 2nd most driver on the grid, he does not have plans to step away from racing anytime soon.
Speaking at the Beyond the Grid podcast, Wolff said that the contract job is pretty long and it is one of the topics that he will tackle over the winter break.
