“We forgot about tequila” – Sergio Perez quips Red Bull is now the national drink of Mexico
“We forgot about tequila” – Sergio Perez quips Red Bull is now the national drink of Mexico, after his much-highlighted switch to the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
Sergio Perez is a very happy man these days. After almost being out of Formula 1 when Racing Point/Aston Martin decided to hire Sebastian Vettel, Perez will now race for Red Bull this season. And the veteran Mexican driver claims people back home are choosing to drink Red Bull over tequila. He spoke about this, with a smile, to the the Mexican branch of ESPN.
“Red Bull is now our national drink, we forgot about tequila. The Mexicans are very excited and really love the team and are supporting us. I’m focused on going back to Mexico and winning a race for them.”
Happy Weekend! Looking forward to testing next week!

Sergio Perez taking time to adjust in Red Bull, but ready to compete
Like in any new team, Perez is taking time to get used to the Red Bull way. But having been in the sport for more than a decade now, he is used to change, and is embracing it. Red Bull have been cooperative too, ever since they got him in to replace the underperforming Alex Albon.
“It takes a long time to feel comfortable and I expect several changes in the first five races in what I’m used to. During the other days we made great progress. We changed the seat, we adjusted the belts. The conditions were not the best (on filming day), but it was nice to get a close-up to the car, pedals, brakes and everything new that I’m going through. It was the priority before Bahrain.”
