F1 fans are all excited about the upcoming F1 movie, which is being produced by Lewis Hamilton and will star Brad Pitt. Pitt, who is one of the most popular actors in the world, will play the role of an F1 driver, and the shooting begins during the British GP weekend in Silverstone later this year.
Recent reports state that Pitt will drive a real F1 car alongside the other 20 drivers in Silverstone, to shoot the film. According to ESPN, the directors of the movie will launch an 11th team, that will feature in several race weekends moving forward, to film an authentic F1 experience.

However, The Race reports that what Pitt will be driving isn’t really an F1 car. In fact, it will be a modified version of a Formula 2 car, which is much slower than what the likes of Lewis Hamilton drive.
On top of that, Pitt won’t be sharing the race track with the 20 F1 drivers in Silverstone. The 59-year-old will take his car out for shooting in between the sessions so that their race weekend isn’t disrupted by the movie’s production.
Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton expected to bring ‘Drive to Survive’ type success
Drive to Survive was released on Netflix in 2019, and changed F1 forever. The show made F1 immensely popular, bringing in new fans every single year with the release of a new season of the docuseries. It was also able to penetrate a market that F1 struggled to enter in the past- The United States of America.

The producers of this upcoming F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, also hope that it brings in a similar level of success. F1’s CEO Stefano Domenicali backs to duo of Pitt and Lewis Hamilton to bring in even more eyeballs into the sport after this movie is released.
One of the reasons behind shooting during an actual race weekend is to provide fans with an authentic experience when the film releases. Domenicali feels that it will be “another way to show fans” what they want to do, differently, as quoted by Autoweek.
What will Hamilton and Pitt’s movie feature?
In an interview with Motorsport last year, Hamilton admitted that he was very high hopes from the release of his upcoming movie starring Pitt. The 38-year-old went as far as saying that he expects it to be the “Best racing movie ever”.
So far, the title of the movie and the plot hasn’t been officially revealed yet. However, it is reported that the protagonist of the film will be an F1 driver who comes out of retirement to team up with a talented youngster, in their collective journey to success.
