'I was born with it...': Lewis Hamilton Explains Why He's One of the All-time Greats in F1

With seven world championships and several other records to his name, Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly one of the greatest-ever drivers that has graced the sport of Formula 1. While fans can give several reasons for why they believe the Briton is one of the best in the sport, here is a look at what the 38-year-old has to say about himself.

When asked to explain why he believes he has been so successful in F1, Hamilton replied to ESPN in an interview, “I think it is a hard one for anybody who is good at something to explain. There is definitely the ability. I was born with it. It is how you perceive things. Your depth perception,” (among many other things).

After explaining the qualities he possesses, the Mercedes driver then brilliantly compared an F1 car with art to explain his point better. Hamilton said that while he is not good at drawing, driving in the car feels like a ‘paint brush’ for him and that it comes naturally to him. He then concluded his remarks by stating that this is what he was meant to do.

Lewis Hamilton provides a huge update about his future

Since Lewis Hamilton’s current deal with Mercedes expires at the end of the 2023 season, many of his fans are worried that the Briton may not stay in the sport for much longer. However, to his fans’ surprise, the 38-year-old plans to stay in F1 for at least a few more years.

In a recent conversation (as quoted by F1 journalist Julianne Cerasoli), Hamilton said, “I’m thinking long term. I don’t want to stay here (at Mercedes) for another year. I want to stay longer”. Considering the Briton’s remarks, it seems that it is only a matter of time before he signs a new deal with the Silver Arrows.

Hamilton gets his 2023 season off to a decent start

While Lewis Hamilton may not have met his high expectations, he has still begun his 2023 campaign decently. The Briton has scored 48 points after the first four races and is currently fourth in the championship.

He is just 12 points behind third-placed Fernando Alonso, with the two Red Bulls of reigning champion Max Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez way ahead. Perez is 39 points clear of the Briton while Verstappen is 45 points ahead.

After a decent start to his 2023 season, Hamilton will now hope to score some more good points at the next race in Miami The race at the Miami International Autodrome will take place from May 5 to 7.
