Max Verstappen is known for being aggressive on the track. But being an F1 world champion, no one would expect him to do the same in sim racing. However, he did that during his latest sim racing against his opponent by shunting Sven Haase. And the fans on Twitter are furious after seeing Verstappen showing such behavior.
During the race, Haase thought Verstappen pushed him at the bus stop, and in retaliation, the former shoves Verstappen. As a result, all the team Redline cars ended up spinning.
It was revealed that Verstappen’s error initially happened because of an error. However, later in the lap, the Red Bull star shunted Haase as retaliation for his act. Ultimately, the whole incident caused disqualification for Verstappen—moreover, some bashing by F1 fans too.
F1 Twitter criticizes Max Verstappen’s behavior
Verstappen shunting his opponent in the virtual mode of Spa Francorchamps instantly got viral. And that even made a fan named Vino call the Dutchman a sore loser.
Ahmed Baokbh using the dashboard footage of the incident, joked that Verstappen was actually practicing a move to use against George Russell, referencing this year’s skirmish between the two drivers in Azerbaijan.
On the other hand, Alex Vangeen criticized such behavior for being unacceptable, as he reasoned that some kids actually follow Verstappen since he is an F1 champion. Thus, he should avoid behaving like this.
Well, a gaming controversy that would be actually discussed for a few more days among the F1 fans. However, this is not the first time that Verstappen has been involved in a similar controversy.
Max Verstappen was criticized for quitting the game
During the virtual 24hrs Le Mans, Verstappen quit the game after repeated connection issues. The two-time world champion even called it a clown show.
However, the 25-year-old race driver was criticized for his unsportsmanlike behavior. Many reasoned that such issues are regular in sim racing competitions, and others also in the competition were facing similar issues.
But at the end of the day, it also shows that Verstappen takes sim racing as seriously as actual racing.
