Federer generously gives his headband to a young fan who made a sign for it
Roger Federer won his first round over Dusan Lajovic 6-1, 6-3, 6-4.
The Swiss star eased past Dusan Lajovic in the first round of Wimbledon Championships, as Federer began his title defence in the tournament. Federer only took 79 minutes to complete the game in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-4.
Earlier before the match, Federer shocked many when he donned the UNIQLU jacket while entering the centre-court, announcing his new deal with the clothing outfit. His new deal means that Federer would no longer be playing in his traditional RF shirt.
While signing autographs for fans after the match, a young female fan appeared, displaying a sign which read, “Can I have your headband pleeease!!”
Roger Federer took his time, but very politely obliged to his young supporter’s request.
The post-match interviewer later pointed out that Federer could expect more of such requests in the upcoming games, to which the Swiss jokingly said, “Yes, they want a watch, a car, a racket, a shirt, they can have it all at this point.”
Earlier in the match, Lajovic started strongly by holding the serve, but that remained the only high point for the Serb in the set. Federer eased through the set 6-1, and the rest of the match was an exhibition of Federer’s flair and his exquisite shots. The Swiss didn’t face a break point, as he reached the second round of Wimbledon.
