Fellaini miss vs Liverpool

Fellaini miss vs Liverpool: Manchester United were humbled 3-1 at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s side regained the first position in the table.

Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat as Liverpool proved too hot to handle for Mourinho’s men at Anfield. The host side amassed 36 goal attempts against a hapless United side, who hardly threatened their goalkeeper Alisson in the second half.

Sadio Mane gave Liverpool the lead after a flurry of attacks finally rewarded the Liverpool side, but a howler from Alisson led Manchester United to come back into the game through Jesse Lingard.

In the second half, however, United hardly managed to hold the ball, and super-sub Xherdan Shaqiri scored a quick-fire brace to ensure three points for Liverpool.

With this win, Klopp’s side goes top of the table, two points clear of Manchester City, while Manchester United are now 19 points behind Liverpool, at sixth position.

The game also saw a rather embarrassing miss from Marouane Fellaini.

Fellaini miss vs Liverpool:

In a desperate attempt to make a comeback into the game, Manchester United made a rare attack on the Liverpool defence in the closing minutes of the game.

Marouane Fellaini, the United midfielder, tried his luck from the distance, but his shot went so far away from the goal that it knocked a steward off his chair near the corner.

It was a week to forget for Manchester United, who were pegged down 2-1 at Valencia on Wednesday and squandered away the chance to finish at the top of their group in the Champions League.

Earlier, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata were left on the bench for the game against Liverpool, and the former wasn’t put on for the entirety of the game. Chris Smalling was originally in the starting XI, but withdrew from the game 10 minutes before kick-off due to injury.

With United 11 points off the fifth-placed Arsenal and 14 off the top-four, the side now faces a trip to Cardiff City this weekend.
