Fox Sports include Virat Kohli and Ravi Ashwin in Test Team of decade

Fox Sports include Virat Kohli and Ravi Ashwin: The renowned Australian channel has included two Indian players in their Test XI of the decade.

While the last two Test matches of the decade 2010-2019 are yet to be played, a lot of fans and experts have started to share their team of the decade and rightly so.

The Boxing Day Tests between Australia and New Zealand in Melbourne and South Africa and England in Centurion will bring an end to an intriguing decade which has seen both the game and the teams evolving to a large extent.

Renowned Australian channel Fox Sports have put forward their Test team of the decade. In current India captain Virat Kohli and premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Fox have included only two Indian players in their team.

As far as the players from other countries are concerned, Fox’s team of the decade encompasses three South African, two English, two Australian, one Sri Lankan and one Bangladeshi player. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been named as the 12th man of the squad.

Former England captain Sir Alastair Cook and current Australia opening batsman David Warner were named the opening batsmen in this decade’s XI. Cook, who retired after the India series last year, will go down in history as the highest run-scorer (8,818) in this decade.

The other two retired players who have been included in the list are former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara and former South Africa captain AB de Villiers. Featuring in this list despite only playing till 2015 and 2018 respectively speaks highly about their dominance in the format.

The middle-order also comprised of India captain Virat Kohli and Australia batsman Steve Smith – arguably the top to batsmen in Test matches at the moment. Veteran Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim was included as a wicket-keeper batsman in the side.

While India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was the lone spinner in the squad, the pace trio comprised of England pacer James Anderson and the South African duo of Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada. It is worth mentioning that Anderson recently became the highest wicket-taker among fast bowlers.
