In the first match at Chennai, Russell’s 88* (36) went in vain after a combined effort from CSK’s batsmen saw them chasing a 203-run target on the penultimate delivery of the match. In the second match at Kolkata, rookie batsman Shubman Gill (57*) and captain Dinesh Karthik’s (45*) 83-run stand for the fifth wicket saw Kolkata chase down 178 runs in the 18th over.
