Gautam Gambhir joins BJP

Gautam Gambhir joins BJP: Former Indian cricketer joined the ruling party in presence of two imminent politicians in Delhi.

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has joined the ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in Delhi. The move coming before the General Elections in the country might witness the southpaw contesting elections from one of the seven constituencies of Delhi.

In the first week of December last year, Gambhir had retired from all forms of cricket. While rumours of him entering politics were doing the rounds then also, Gambhir had denied them in interviews after his retirement.

In the recent years, Gambhir has been very active on social media platform Twitter where he is usually seen as addressing or questioning social issues/problems. Doing it constantly had given people a hint about his entry in politics.

Gambhir joined the party in the presence of seasoned leaders such as Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Speaking at the occasion, Jaitley hoped of Gambhir to benefit the party greatly. “We are now a cadre-based mass party,” Jaitley was quoted as saying while making the announcement.

“While the cadres also reach a position in the party, including those who have made an impact in other fields is also a policy of the party. We hope that he will benefit the party greatly,” he further said.

On the other hand, Gambhir talked about how he finds inspiration in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Watch the full video below:
