God of War Series Has Been Greenlit on Amazon Prime; Will Follow the 2018 Plot

A God of War Series has been greenlit on Amazon Prime, and it will feature the plot of the 2018 soft reboot of the franchise. Details below.

With the recent success of God of War Ragnarok and the fan appeal of the franchise in general, Amazon is cashing in. They are looking to make an Amazon Prime series on the franchise. They will also see what opportunities lie in exploring the nine realms. We have limited information about the series, but let us break down the already-learned information.

A God of War Series is finally being Made; Here’s What we Know so Far

The above Tweet is an official one from the Amazon Prime account, so we know it’s true. We do not have a cast list yet, but we will as time goes on. The production will likely start in 2023. However, we do have an idea about the writers of the show. Rafe Judkins,  Mark Fergus, and Hawk Ostby will be the writers for the show. Sony Pictures will partner with Playstation Production and Playstation Games to produce the show.

The plot will follow the 2018 GOW game in which Kratos and Atreus, his son, honor Faye’s last wishes to scatter her ashes at the highest peak in all the Nine Realms. We also have an official description of the plot. It reads,” “Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son to spread her ashes from the highest peak — his wife’s final wish.”

It continues,” Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new gods and monsters for the fate of the world.”

We have no idea if the series will get a second season, but it all depends on the response and success of the first. The Kratos casting has not been announced yet, but fans are hoping for it to be Christopher Judge. Some even want Triple H to play the role. Only time will tell.
