Anotine Griezmann’s time at Atletico Madrid looks set to come to a conclusion, as the Frenchman looks disenchanted at the Madrid side.
The attacker is one of the best players in the world right now, and has been touted to move away from Atletico for the past two seasons now. The Frenchman had a fantastic 2015-16 season in which he scored 32 goals for Los Rajoiblancos, as he was crucial to his side’s journey to the Champions League final.
The final ended on a sour note for Greizmann though, as his penalty miss in regulation time saw the match go to penalties, which Real Madrid eventually won in the end. Griezmann continued his brilliant form in the Euros, before losing out to Portugal in the final, leaving him disillusioned heading into the summer.
There was a lot of talk that Manchester United would buy him last summer, but Atletico’s transfer ban meant that Griezmann decided to remain loyal to his club, and remain at Madrid for another year.
But now it certainly looks like he will leave this summer, as Griezmann’s relationship with the fans is at an all-time low. The fans are not happy with his low productivity this season, and expect more from their star man.
Griezmann’s preference to stay in Spain makes Barcelona his preferred destination. While PSG are also interested in his services, Griezmann wants the chance to play with Messi at the Nou Camp.
Although Messi likes the Frenchman, Griezmann’s arrival could see Luis Suarez forced out of the club, something that Messi does not want to happen at any cost, which is why a move for Greizmann remains in the balance.
Neymar sees Greizmann as a rival for the Ballon d’Or, which is why PSG may decide against bringing in the Frenchman to their shores, leaving Griezmann’s future in a flux at this point in time.
