Jordi Alba contract extension

Jordi Alba’s situation is worrying for the Barcelona board.

Barcelona, who have spent more than 350 million on Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, and Frenkie De Jong are finding themselves in a complicated position as they are struggling to tie their stars to a new deal.

There is no doubt about the success when it comes down to results and transfers, but there is no use when the Blaugrana struggle to give a new deal. Jordi Alba, whose contract ends in 2020 is yet to put pen to paper which is worrying for the club.

Even though the club are confident that he would commit his future to the club, the Spaniard should not get fed up with the current contract situation. Several reports quoted that the left-back has been attracting interest from the Italian giants Juventus who are reportedly looking for strengthen that department before it’s too long. The club is also hopeful that other clubs do not offer more than the Blaugrana.

The Spanish publication Sport says that contract is only half of the problem and the report adds on that Barcelona are currently lacking funds to make any major move which might be a huge stumbling block to Jordi Alba’s contract.

They have options in central defence and right back, but they do not have a proper back to the Spanish International which worrying for the club. The paper read that Barcelona have a ‘Serious problem’ with the ongoing situation and face a ‘black hole’ without Jordi Alba.

Even though many reports have read that the club has agreed to a new deal with Alba, there has not been any concrete reports. He has been sensational form this season by contributing so much to the offensive and defensive part of the game. His number has skyrocketed to 12 assists this term with more than three months to play.

There is no doubt that the club will want to tie him to a new deal before it’s too late. Besides, the idea to bring in Jean-Clair Todibo is one of the strangest things because of the insufficient funds. The club have taken plenty of decisions without proper planning which is coming back to bite them.

Without or without the Spain left-back, the Blaugrana will be trying to pursue a defender who would be able to operate through the left flank.

Should Jordi Alba decide to leave the club in summer, he could follow Rafinha, Denis Suarez, and Ivan Rakitic who are also tipped to leave the Blaugrana for proper game time.
