Harbhajan Singh assumes Suresh Raina

Harbhajan Singh assumes Suresh Raina: The veteran Indian spinner opined that the axed southpaw is unlikely to play the world event.

There is no hiding to the fact that the Indian selectors and the team management have all but confirmed the squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. While there are a couple of spots remaining to be confirmed, one expects that to be done in the series against Australia.

One also can’t rule out the possibility of a surprising name pressing his case in front of the selectors. Having said that, no one out of the current lot of players seem to be making it to the national squad for the world event.

“No more changes in Indian team”

In a recent interview, veteran India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh shared a similar opinion where he ruled out the possibility of any out-of-the-box name being named in India’s World Cup squad.

Harbhajan went on to say that even a brilliant IPL season won’t aid anyone now, even axed batsman and his Chennai Super Kings teammate Suresh Raina.

“I don’t think there will be changes in the Indian team for the World Cup even if someone plays amazingly well in the IPL, be it Suresh Raina or any youngster. I don’t think the 15-man squad will change, unless there are injuries or so.

“BCCI is also looking at the squad in the manner of who to rest and how during the IPL, so the squad is more or less locked,” Harbhajan Singh was quoted as saying.

In a recent interview with Times Now, Raina had expressed disappointment over his ODI snub where he mentioned that he wasn’t expecting to get dropped from the national team after limited chances at the highest level.
