Harry Kane: Mohamed Salah aims cheeky dig at Tottenham star ahead of Champions League final

Mohamed Salah has aimed a cheeky dig at Harry Kane ahead of the Champions League final.

Mohamed Salah has aimed a cheeky dig at Harry Kane ahead of the Champions League final. The Egyptian International claimed that Spurs talisman was the best goalscorer in the league until Salah stepped into the league.

The former Roma forward has been a revelation since he joined Liverpool. The 26-year-old scored 44 goals last summer, breaking the all-time Premier League by scoring 32 in the league alone. He scored twice in the Champions League Semifinals against his former club last campaign.

He has not hit the same figures this season, but he lifted the Premier League golden boot with Sadio Mane and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. He scored 22 in the league and four in the Champions League this season. It has been a great season for the Reds, but they are hoping to be on the right end against Spurs on Saturday.

On the other hand, Harry Kane has been Tottenham Hotspur’s talisman over the last few years under Mauricio Pochettino. In an injury-hit season, the English International has managed to score 17 goals in the Premier League. Besides, he has one more than Mohamed Salah in the Champions League this campaign.

Gary Lineker asked if Mohamed Salah prefers Harry Kane to miss the Champions League final. The 26-year-old responded: “Can I ask why you’re asking me that question?”

And when Lineker put to him that if he were playing for Liverpool he’d prefer Kane to miss the game. Spurs have performed comparatively well without Kane, but Salah wants Kane to feature and reckons that his side would be ready irrespective of that element.

Salah replied: “I prefer if he plays and all of us will be ready. It’s a good competition when you play against the top in the game.

“Harry Kane is a good player, he’s proved that for many years. He’s a top scorer for the team, for English football… before I came [laughs], I’m sorry! So, it’s good to be in a final, it’s something good to push me more.”

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Liverpool will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday. The winner will face Chelsea in the Super Cup earlier on in the season.
