The HCA Secretary is not pleased with the decision of dropping Ambati Rayudu from the Indian ODI squad touring England. He has now questioned the BCCI about the validity of the ‘overrated test’.

Ambati Rayudu proved to be the highest scoring batsman for CSK this season. He batted both in the middle order and at the top. Despite frequent shuffles in the batting order, Rayudu remained unflustered and delivered for the team.
In 15 matches, Rayudu has scored 586 runs at an average of more than 40. He has also notched up a century. On the back of his consistent performances, he even broke through in the Indian ODI squad touring England.

However, the sad news for the CSK and Rayudu fans is that after Mohammed Shami and Sanju Samson failed to qualify the Yo Yo test, Ambati Raydu is the next addition to the list. Rayudu who had a fantastic IPL season and was the highest run scorer for Chennai Super Kings, failed that test. Not only did he fail but Rayudu fell way short of the required 16.3 units and could only manage 14 units.
Following the failure, Rayudu has been dropped for the England ODI tour and Suresh Raina has replaced him in the squad. However, this left the HCA Secretary Sheshnarayan miffed as he questioned the validity of the Test.
“This looks very lopsided and deep-rooted. Since a person who got nearly the highest runs in IPL this year and has also played all the 50-over games in the domestic season, he now finds himself unfit on some highly overrated fitness tests. How can an unfit person score so many runs? This is very harsh and draconian. HCA will stand by its players and fight for their rights.
We know what is going on behind the scenes and people are taking advantage of the fluid situation in the BCCI and pushing decisions. We demand that the process of the tests be made transparent and open to public domain,” demanded the Secretary.
