Helmut Marko has a ‘you go to the bench’ warning for Red Bull’s Pierre Gasly
Pierre Gasly earned his promotion from Toro Rosso to Red Bull by putting up some really strong performances for Red Bull’s sister team in the last season and a half.
Now, while Gasly does seem like he is ready for the job of driving in a ‘top 3’ team, Red Bull did not think he was quite ready for the job and were forced to draft him in after Daniel Ricciardo decided to move to Renault.
Gasly is sure to be under pressure from his teammate Verstappen next season, as Max has solidified his place as one of the title contenders next season(provided Red Bull come up with a good enough car).
Helmut Marko has laid out the ground rules for Gasly. The young driver will be under pressure and will need to perform, as Marko has warned him of being pushed to the bench if he fails to do so.

“Pierre Gasly will be under scrutiny, because that’s the way formula one is.” Marko said.
“It’s the same in football. If you don’t perform, you go to the bench.
“Gasly has proved he is fast, now we have to teach him a little more discipline. But he gets a lot of support from the team, and we’re sure he’ll make it.” he added.
Verstappen and Gasly go back a long way and the Dutchman will welcome his peer with open arms.
Max admitted that Gasly was as straightforward as a man could get, a quality that he admired and could help their relationship go a long way.
“When it became clear that Daniel Ricciardo was going to Renault, it was obvious that Pierre would come,” Max confirmed
“He is a great guy. I’ve known him from karting. He is straightforward, smart, nice — you cannot ask for more,” he added.
