Cocolia weekly boss in Honkai Star Rail

Facing the Mother of Deception, the Cocolia boss in Honkai Star Rail can indeed be challenging. However, with the right strategies and tactics, you can overcome this formidable enemy. Here’s a concise guide with some tips and tricks to help you succeed.

Players get to see Cocolia Rand when they start their Trailblaze Mission on Jarilo-VI in Honkai Star Rail. She is the Supreme Guardian of Belobog, the only inhabited part of Jarilo-VI. We soon get invested in her involvement in the story and her connection with the Stellaron.

However, things don’t turn out great between the two parties, and by the third Trailblaze Mission, Trailblazers find them against the boss. The Cocolia boss needs to be defeated in “The Stars Are Cold Toys”, which is the fifth part of the Mission “In the Sweltering Morning Sun”.  To make it easier for players to fight her, whether for the first time or as a weekly boss, here’s a guide that provides some important tips and tricks for the challenge in the game.

Defeating Cocolia on Everwinter Hill is crucial to advance further in the story. However, players may find it tough to do so, especially if they don’t have the correct characters or builds. She subsequently becomes a weekly boss, an Echo of the War, “End of the Eternal Freeze”, which players might need to defeat for some Trace materials.

Before the Mother of Deception fight, players will have encountered Cocolia as a normal boss enemy in her original form. This fight is much simpler than the Mother of Deception, although with similar weaknesses: Quantum, Fire, and Lightning.

The main fight, which triggers after a cutscene during the sub-quest The Stars Are Cold Toys, is a little more challenging. Players should keep in mind that the Trailblazer is a compulsory character in the team for this fight. However, Cocolia has a 40% DMG Resistance to Physical attacks, which will force the Trailblazer to become a Fire character.

Now, this is the time for the rest of the team joins in, and the actual battle starts. Players should be mindful of selecting their team and picking up the characters with elements Cocolia is weak to. It is recommended to take at least one more Fire character, although the Trailblazer also starts using the element. It is also helpful to use a healer, as in most cases, the fight can be long, and the enemies can lower your HP significantly during their turns. Hence, good team examples for the fight are:

  • Trailblazer + Himeko + Asta + Bailu
  • Trailblazer + Asta + Serval + Natasha
  • Trailblazer + Himeko + Seele + Bailu
  • Trailblazer + Serval + Natasha + March 7th

Although the enemy has resistance to Ice, March 7th can be used on the team to provide defences to the teammates. It might be necessary for a part of the fight, as discussed below.

How to defeat Cocolia in Honkai Star Rail?

Defeating Cocolia can be easy with the correct turn-based strategy. There are two phases of the fight, in both of which players will need to bring down the HP of Cocolia to zero.

First Phase

In the first phase, Cocolia will summon two ice pillars called the Lances of Eternal Freeze. Focus on removing the Lances as soon as possible. They are weak to Fire, Quantum, and Lightning, just like Cocolia. Furthermore, a mechanical Engine of Creation will be granted during the battle that gets charged as the enemy gets attacked. When it is fully charged, use it to destroy the Lances.

During this phase, Cocolia will also continuously lock attacks on your teammates. Use the newly granted Preservation powers of the Trailblazer to deflect the attacks. Additionally, make sure to heal your characters enough as they will need to survive through another phase.

Second Phase

After Cocolia is defeated for the first time, she instantly regains her full HP back. She can now deal with powerful AoE attacks using her power of the Stellaron. It is important to have proper defenses up and heal whenever possible. Players must have enough maximum HP on the characters before they enter the battles as these AoE attacks can be very damaging.

By arming players with the insights and tactics presented in this guide, overcoming the Cocolia: Mother of Deception boss in Honkai Star Rail becomes a more achievable objective.
