“I admire him”: PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino Lauds Pep Guardiola Ahead Of Champions League Meeting

He might have departed the land of the Premier League but when Mauricio Pochettino will take on Pep Guardiola on Wednesday, he’ll be looking to make full use of the knowledge he gained in England.

Clashing with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on a multitude of occasions in the Premier League as manager of Tottenham, Pochettino is well versed with City’s style of football. Although Guardiola was the undisputed winner in those matchups, Pochettino now has at his disposal a completely different juggernaut.

However, Pochettino was quick to himself acknowledge the stature of the tie awaiting him. Speaking ahead of the Champions League semi-final in Paris, Pochettino talked about Guardiola and was quick to make his admiration for the Spaniard evident.

“I admire him and think he is doing a fantastic job,” Pochettino commented on Pep.

“He is an amazing coach, always thinking of different strategies and game-plans. I love to challenge him and the teams he prepared. Not only the best manager. The club is important, too. A club that trusts you to build a team and provides you with all the tools.”

For both the clubs, the imminent showdown comes bearing with it colossal ramifications. Both the clubs have charted an akin path in the world of football with the Champions League continuing to remain elusive for them.

Although PSG did manage to make it to the final last season, the club faltered at the final hurdle infront of Bayern Munich. However, the Paris based club did manage to extract its revenge as it downed Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the ongoing edition.

City on the other hand defeated a Bundesliga club as well in the previous round. The club got the better of a resilient and perseverant Borussia Dortmund unit to assure its passage in the forthcoming semi-final.

City meanwhile are well on course to life another Premier League trophy.
