ICC has announced its FTP which is basically the schedule for all the upcoming series as agreed upon by the ICC and respective cricket boards. A new and exciting thing that has come out is the World Test Championship and a 13-team ODI league.
The Test championship involving 9 teams will be held in two two-year cycles. All teams would play three home and three away series in the first cycle (2019-21). The final of the Test championship will be played at the Lord’s in July 2021.

The 13-team ODI league, on the other hand, will place a limitation of not more than 3 ODI matches to be played in a series. However, this does not always stand true in case of bilateral agreements. An example of it is the ongoing 5 match ODI series between Australia and England.
The winners of the World Cricket League Championship, Netherlands will also take part in the league.
The schedule for the inaugural World Test Championship has been announced as part of the 2018-2023 Future Tours Programme.

After the release of the FTP, ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said, “The agreement of this FTP means we have clarity, certainty and most importantly context around bilateral cricket over the next five years. The World Test Championship will get underway next year with the ODI league kicking off in 2020 as part of the qualification towards the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
“Bringing context to bilateral cricket is not a new challenge, but with the release of this FTP, our Members have found a genuine solution that gives fans around the world the chance to engage regularly with international cricket that has meaning and the possibility of a global title at the end,” Richardson further mentioned.
