Idris Elba to star in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion

Not content with just having Keanu Reeves in their game, CDPR has roped in Idris Elba for Cyberpunk 2077. The English actor made an appearance at the Phantom Liberty teaser released at The Game Awards 2022. While this is great news for current-gen users, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users will not get access to the new DLCs. Here’s everything we know about the expansion so far.

Coming in at a minute and a half long, teaser two for Phantom Liberty has a lot to unpack. Starting off with a visual of a New United States of America plane crash, the trailer quickly switches to Dogtown. Dogtown is the new area players will get to explore in the expansion and is presumably where most of the action will transpire. Keanu Reeves makes a return for the DLC while the trailer showcases a bit of combat in the foreground.

The Mantis Blades return alongside a preview of new characters, enemies, and vehicles. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t reveal a release date or pricing. While the DLC will be paid, fans can expect it to be around the $30 mark. After an abysmal launch on last-gen consoles, the developers are dropping support for this DLC on older platforms. This means that the DLC will only be accessible to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC users.

However, those with a last-gen copy can upgrade the game at no cost. CDPR’s measures to fix an evidently incomplete game at launch have earned it a shot at redemption with Cyberpunk 2077. The title recently posted 100,000 concurrent users on Steam, nearly two years after its launch. Judging by player interest it seems that the Cyberpunk franchise has a lot of life left in it.
