“Won Best Esports Athlete of the year from The Game Awards! It’s crazy to be selected among so many other talented, hard-working individuals in esports, so I am forever grateful. All I can say is thank you to the community and all the people who I’ve met that helped me here now.”

The League of Legends World Championship was one of the high points of esports this year, with a nail-biting finish. Despite Faker being denied a fourth title, the final drew record viewership numbers and put on a spectacular climax. Despite a stellar year for other professionals like S1mple, Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and even Dota 2 returned empty-handed.
