WATCH: Indian team celebrating Independence Day in England
Watch the Indian team celebrating Independence Day in England before the all important 3rd Test in Nottingham
Team India is currently in England. The players have been away from home since a long while as they went to the north of Europe for limited and test series against England and Ireland. Despite their subpar performances in almost all of their fixtures, they will certainly be missing home in spite of the criticism that they are subject to.
The case would have been this way more on Independence Day where everyone would have missed celebrating with families and friends. However, the BCCI did make sure to help the Indian players feel home when the Board organized a flag hoisting ceremony during the morning hours of Wednesday to mark the nation’s big day.
In a video uploaded on all of its social media accounts as well as their official website by the BCCI, Ravi Shastri, team backroom staff and players can be seen saluting the tricolour. The clip of roughly a minute ended with a message of congratulations to all fellow Indians from the team’s captain- Virat Kohli.

“On behalf of the Indian cricket team, all the way from the UK, here is wishing everyone a very happy Independence Day. Jai Hind!”,Kohli said. He and all the other cricketers of India also resorted to their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram handles to wish their countrymen the best for Independence Day.
The Indian team is currently in the middle of the five match series against England. They were on the losing end in both of the matches which have been played so far in Edgbaston and London. They will be hoping to make amends in their third outing at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
The players are 100% aware that there is no room for error in the upcoming three matches. Being on the losing end in either of the three tests, or failing to win at least two could see them lose the penta-series.
