Fernando Alonso’s F1 future has been in some doubt all through this year, as the Spaniard hasn’t yet committed to F1.
McLaren and Alonso both have remained tight lipped about 2019, but Alonso’s cryptic tweet about an announcement on 14th of August has everyone talking.

Speculation had risen to an all time high today and it seems like the IndyCar twitter account decided to play a little.
They tweeted about a possible ‘lunch date’ with Fernando Alonso tomorrow fuelling more speculation about Alonso leaving F1.
“We still on for lunch tomorrow” IndyCar series tweeted.

The tweet has sent the F1 fraternity in a frenzy, as either Alonso is joining IndyCar next season or the IndyCar social media is trying to get some traction by playing a little witty.
The word on social media is that Alonso wouldn’t have done a countdown if he wasn’t about to leave Formula 1. Either that or this is some brand related promotion.
If it is a promotion, it has worked indeed, as fans are now eager to know what all the fuss is about. It’s got the world talking and Alonso has got the attention that was intended.
Do you think Alonso is leaving Formula 1?
