Reports from Italy reveal that Inter Milan might just want to make a sensational move for FC Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi.
These reports have sparked up since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo to the Serie A, as Juventus completed a marvellous £88 million transfer deal for the 33-year-old.
Ronaldo’s duels and rivalry with Lionel Messi has been unmatched for years, but the two now will not compete in the same league after nine long years.
However, can the Argentine sensation also arrive in the Serie A to keep the most celebrated rivalry of all-time, ALIVE?
As outrageous as the report might seem, Italian newspaper, Tuttosport believes that Inter Milan are interested in capturing the signature of the 31-year-old.
The Italian outlet covered their front-page with this sensational idea, as CEO of Pirelli, the long-time sponsors of Inter Milan, also dropped a hint.
“Messi [to] Inter? May be,” the stunning headline read.
Marco Tronchetti Provera, CEO of Pirelli, hopes that Inter Milan’s wealthy Chinese owners, Suning, will make a massive bid to persuade Lionel Messi to leave the Camp Nou and join the black and blue of Inter.
“I hope that Suning, once Financial Fair Play will allow it, can make a huge signing,” Provera said.
“Messi? How can you say no to Messi?
The boy from Rosario, Argentina, has been a symbol of loyalty in Barcelona, staying with the club ever since graduating from Barcelona’s famous youth academy, La Masia.
The now 31-year-old (along with Cristiano Ronaldo) has then changed the way people looked at the game, scoring goals and assisting as many for fun. The 5-time Ballon d’Or has won it all, from La Liga to Champions League at the illustrious Camp Nou.
Nevertheless, Inter Milan hope to bring Messi to the Italian wonder that goes by the name of San Siro. Reportedly, they will make an offer for the Argentine next transfer window.
