You couldn’t have asked for a better final, with the top 2 teams during the league stage taking on each other for the top honour.

Mumbai Indians have momentum on their side, while RPS have their superior record against MI to bank on for tonight. But when the teams take the field tonight, all that history would go out of the window, nothing that has transpired in the past would matter, it would all be about who embraces the big day better.

Both these teams are evenly matched across all departments, and it would be up to a few ‘heroes’ to lead their side to victory tonight. It is these big days that separate the good from the great. Let’s see who rises to the occasion tonight.

Let’s get to business now!

Now, I already have Rohit Sharma, Lasith Malinga, Krunal Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah in my side for this game.

The first player that I’ll be bringing into my side is Steve Smith. Smith is Pune’s top scorer in the IPL this season and has been their most dependable batsman. On a big day, you just need to draft in the big players and they don’t come any bigger than Smith. Get him in!

The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium has dished out two kinds of pitches this season, one where Sunrisers struggled to put up a good score on board, and one where David Warner blazed to a 43 ball hundred. While you can’t really predict which one of these pitches would make an appearance today, you need to make sure that you have all bases covered.

The second player that I would get in for today’s game is Jaydev Unadkat. He has been a revelation for the Pune franchise in the death overs, constantly deceiving the batsmen with his slower ones. On a pitch that has been a little on the slower side, you just can’t leave him out.

For the uncapped player I’ll be getting in Washington Sundar, who had a brilliant outing against Mumbai in the last game. I am not going for Rahul Tripathi(who has had a stellar season) because of his recent form and because he would be up against a superior bowling line up.

MSD’s batting position would always remain an enigma, one that you can’t really bank on and hence I would leave him out. If you want to be a little adventurous for the last game, you can draft him in, but then that wouldn’t be a very strategic move.

Ajinkya Rahane has had an ordinary season this time round. He has looked in decent touch but has found it extremely difficult to get going after the power play, holing out to the deep fielders. But one team that he definitely enjoys playing is Mumbai Indians, as pace on the ball allows him to maneuver the ball around with ease.

For the last transfer I’ll be getting in a Mumbai Indian player. I am tempted to get in Pollard as he could go bonkers on a flat deck, but I would do that only if Mumbai bat first, as in the second innings he could either have too much to do or too little.

If Mumbai bat second I would be going in with Ambati Rayudu as my last transfer for the season. He has looked in sublime touch ever since he has come back into the side and could be in for a quick fire 50 tonight. Get him in!

Captain: Jasprit Bumrah

Now, I already have Rohit Sharma, Jaydev Unadkat, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga in my side for this game.

Steve Smith would be the first player that I would be bringing in for this game. His stability at the top and the fact that he played a blinder against Mumbai in Pune’s first game of the season is enough to warrant him a place in my side. He would love to cap off the tournament with a repeat of that initial 100.

Ajinkya Rahane would be my second transfer for this game, reasons for which are already mentioned in the IPL Fantasy League section.

For my last transfer of this season, I would bring in one from Ambati Rayudu and Keiron Pollard. A flat deck could ensure runs for both of them and hence I can only use the toss as a reference to decide that who should be brought in. If Mumbai bat first, Pollard could be the way to go, but if Mumbai bat second, I would be getting in Ambati Rayudu.

Batting Star: Steve Smith

Bowling Star: Jasprit Bumrah/Jaydev Unadkat
