IPL 2017 Fantasy Tips: Fantasy Guide for KKR vs MI

Two teams with the arguably the largest fan bases in the enitre competition take on each other as the race for the playoffs becomes even more spicier. KKR need another win to secure a guaranteed playoff spot, with a huge victory margin giving them a chance of ending the league stage in the top 2 as well. A loss, however, would mean that things won’t be in KKR’s hands, and they will have to depend on other results to help them pull through.

MI on the other hand have already secured a playoff spot and sit pretty at the top of the table, despite suffering to a tantalising loss in their last outing. A win today at Eden, their captain’s happy hunting ground would guarantee a top 2 finish, and a home qualifier.

Mumbai wouldn’t read too much into the loss against KXIP, as it was a one off incident when their bowling unit just didn’t turn up. Lasith Malinga’s form though is a matter of concern, as he has been taken for a ride in almost every game. Johnson or Southee could slot in for him, but knowing Mumbai, they wouldn’t want to make that huge call at this stage in the tournament.

KKR need to stop Rohit Sharma from getting into the act today. Half their problem is anyways solved with Rohit continuing to feature in that number 4 spot, which would force him to up the ante during the middle overs, something that is not his natural game. But when you have such a rich history at a particular ground, you keep finding ways to make it big.

Let’s get to business now!

Now, I already have Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir and Jasprit Bumrah in my side for this game.

With just 2 transfers in the kitty and 3 games to go, the only player that could give me a windfall of points is Chris Lynn. His superior six hitting ability is enough to warrant him a place in my side, as he could go real big against a wounded Mumbai bowling attack.

Sunil Narine is the other player in contention for a transfer spot, but he misses out as Gambhir sort of hinted in the last game that Narine could be pushed down the order, now that Uthappa has come back into the team. With that happening, I don’t see Narine overpowering the bowlers during the middle and death overs, when the field is well spread out. Also, he hasn’t been very lethal with the ball this season, and hence you can leave him out. But if you do have more than 5 transfers, get him in!

With Krunal Pandya fit and ready to play and Karn Sharma performing extremely well, Mumbai have a good selection head ache. Krunal’s showing of 3 for 24 in the last outing against KKR could just tilt the scales in his favour. If that happens, Krunal would be my first choice uncapped player for this game. If he doesn’t feature, Ankit Rajpoot would be my uncapped player for this game.

Captain: Chris Lynn

Now, I already have Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah in my side for this game.

The first player that I’ll be getting in for this game is Chris Lynn, reasons for which are already mentioned in the IPL Fantasy League section.

With Narine being set to feature in the lower middle order from now, Uthappa should return to his favoured number 3 spot, something that makes him a better pick than both Gambhir and Narine. Narine hasn’t quite fired with the ball and hence misses out.

I have always rated Uthappa higher than Gambhir in the Fantasy world, as he gives me the extra scoring opportunity through his wicket keeping skills.

If Kuldeep features in this game, I would bring him in for sure, as he could be a menace for the Mumbai Indians during the middle overs, and you can expect him to give you a minimum of 60 points tonight. But if KKR bowl second, I would advise you to maybe save the transfer.

Batting Captain: Chris Lynn

Bowling Captain: Jasprit Bumrah
