After MI-RCB match, AB de Villiers walked up to the crowd, shaking hands and presented a special gift to an RCB supporter.
Many players step on the field and play cricket. But what is paramount and what even supersedes the game is how players carry themselves. How they carry themselves on the field, yes, but more importantly how they carry themselves off the field.
The greatest and the most respected cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Waugh and Rahul Dravid are respected for their cricketing achievements but more so for the human beings they are. AB de Villiers gave us a prime example of how humble one can be.
It was the fixture between RCB and SRH. RCB had to win the match at all costs to remain alive in the competition. They got off to an ordinary start after they lost the wickets of Pathiv Patel and Virat kohli early.
However, AB de Villiers then joined forces with Moeen Ali to take RCB to a mammoth total. He was well supported by CDG and Sarfaraz in the lower order.
When SRH came out to bat, opener Alex Hales looked in good nick and was timing the ball sweetly. Off a delivery from Moeen Ali, Hales hit a cracking shot. The moment the ball left the field, everyone thought it to be a certain six.
However, AB de Villiers had other plans. He timed his jump perfectly and plucked the ball out of thin air to dismiss the dangerous-looking Hales.
He was awarded the man of the match for his efforts. Once the match got over, ABD showed his human side as he walked up to the fans, shook hands and even gifted a souvenir to an RCB supporter.
