Fantasy Tips for CSK vs MI

IPL’s very own ‘El Clasico’ is here and if it can provide viewers with even 70% of what it managed to dish out the last time, we could be in for a cracker of a contest.

CSK and MI are two of the most successful franchises in the tournament and have history of coming good during crunch situations.

While CSK are cruising at the moment, Mumbai Indians have their backs against the wall, having won just one game out of a possible 6.

A loss for MI today and it could well be curtains for the franchise’s playoff hopes this season.

CSK on the other hand would be vying to cement their place at the top of the IPL table with a win over their arch rivals at their new, adopted home ground.

Let’s get to business now!

Now, I already have Mayank Markande and Krunal Pandya in my side for this game.

With so many stars on display for today’s game, it is going to be a little tough to decipher as to who to bring in.

Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Mitchell McCleneghan, Dwayne Bravo, Suresh Raina and Evin Lewis are in my consideration set for this game.

Due to the paucity of transfers, I can get in a maximum of 2 players in my side for this game.

With so many players up for grabs today, I’ll have to use the elimination technique in order to arrive at my best XI for tonight.

Evin Lewis has been susceptible to swing bowling and was found out big time against Sandeep Sharma.

In the first game of the season against CSK, Deepak Chahar too trapped him right in front, thanks to the prodigious swing that he extracts with the new ball.

Rohit Sharma has been found wanting in this year’s IPL and could be exposed yet again against the wiley leg spin of Imran Tahir. Also, batting at number 4, his ‘impact potential’ suffers a huge jolt, especially whilst batting second.

Leave him out for sure if MI bat second. If you think Rohit Sharma will be the man to watch out for today, get him in only if MI bats first.

Now, I would get in one from Watson and Bravo for this game.

Watson has looked out of sorts with the bat in the last two games and hasn’t completed his quota of 4 overs.

His form with both bat and ball, make me tilt a little bit towards Bravo, who is sort of rediscovering his form with the ball, having picked up two wickets, and having dished out a maiden in the last game.

Now, how do you solve the Watson vs Bravo conundrum?

Bravo’s primary skill is his bowling, while for Watson it is his batting.

So, get Bravo in if CSK bowl first(as only then will he be able to bring his death bowling skills to the fore) and get in Watson, if CSK bat first, as he’ll be able bat without the pressure of the scoreboard.

Now, I would try and get in one from Jasprit Bumrah, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu in my team.

Ambati Rayudu has been in fine form this IPL, leading the CSK batting unit from the front and dishing out multiple match winning performances.

However, I leave him out because of the ‘law of averages’, as it is bound to catch up with him at some or the other point.

That brings to me to a straight shootout between Raina and Bumrah.

Now, while Raina is due a big one, he could be found out by the pace of Bumrah and McCleneghan. Raina has been susceptible to the short ball all his career, and by the looks of it, MI have the arsenal to exploit it big time.

Bumrah has taken 8 wickets in the IPL and has a great chance of running through the CSK lower order. Get him in over Raina.

However, my team combination does not allow me to get him in.

Thus considering that CSK play twice in 4 games, I would get in one from Bravo/Watson, depending on what CSK does in the first innings.

For the uncapped player, the only player that I will be able to draft into my side is Ishan Kishan.

Match Powerplayer: Shane Watson/DJ Bravo

2nd innings Powerplayer- Mayank Markande/Krunal Pandya

Now, I already have Shane Watson and Mayank Markande in my side for this game.

Jasprit Bumrah and Dwayne Bravo would be the two players that I get into my side, for reasons already mentioned in the IPL Fantasy League section.

My team combination does not allow me to get any more players into my side for this game.

Batting Powerplayer- Shane Watson

Bowling Powerplayer- Bumrah/Bravo(whoever bowls first)
