Nathan Coulter Nile, the apparent spearhead of the RCB franchise has been ruled out of the IPL due to a ‘sustained injury’ and has been advised to take ‘ample rest’ by the doctors in Australia.

He will thus be unavailable for the 2018 IPL season and thus RCB have gone in and recruited Corey Anderson instead of him.

RCB could chose a player from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP) and decided to go in with Corey Anderson, signing him up for his base price of Rs 2 crore.

The Bangalore based franchise released a statement clarifying Coulter Nile’s absence and the signing up of Corey Anderson.

“Nathan Coulter-Nile is still recovering from a sustained injury and has been prescribed ample rest. He is a player of tremendous talent and owing to his treatment however, he won’t be able to play during IPL season 11. His absence will be felt greatly both in the team and on ground. Team RCB wishes Nathan a heartfelt speedy recovery and an early come back.

“Replacing him in the squad is the explosive Kiwi all-rounder Corey Anderson. Corey plays a bold game and has incredible potential. We all welcome him to the RCB squad,” the RCB release read.

RCB play their IPL opener against KKR on April 8th and would be looking to go all the way this time round after undergoing 10 seasons without an IPL title.

The team looks really balanced this time round, but Coulter Nile’s absence would mean that they would now have to look for a lesser experienced foreign opening bowler and Woakes could be the man to lead them out.
