The auction for the 13th season of the Indian Premier League will be held in Kolkata on December 19 (Thursday). Despite the auction being a mini-auction, expect some teams to engage in bidding wars for some top-notch names in T20 cricket.

Slated to be conducted by Hugh Edmeades, the auction will start at 03:30 PM (IST). As many as 332 Indian and overseas players will contest for the 73 available spots on the day after tomorrow.

Going by the notion of IPL-winning teams being made on the auction table, franchises will be mentally prepared to not commit mistakes on the big day.

Teams such as Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, who haven’t won a single title despite playing the tournament since its inception in 2008, will be keen at making amends in a bid to lift their maiden title.

Star Sports Network will broadcast the live stream of the IPL 2020 auction in India. The one-day event will be telecast on Star Sports 1 Hindi/1 HD Hindi, Star Sports First, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada, Star Sports 1 Bangla and Star Sports Dugout.

While the auction will commence at 03:30 PM on Thursday, the pre-show is likely to start at 02:30 PM on the aforementioned TV channels.
