After their last season’s playoff debacle, the Utah Jazz entered this season with vengeance. Bring the best team this year, Utah finished with a league-best 52-30 record.
Backed by their All-Star trio of Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley and Sixth Man of the Year finalists Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles, the Jazz threat to be a legit title-contending team.
This season has been absolutely terrific for Spida. He averaged 26.4 points, 5.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game while appearing in his second All-Star Game.
He is easily the most instrumental player in the Jazz franchise and is the key to Utah’s success. Clearly, Don’s right ankle injury has now been bothering him which can be visibly frustrating him.
“It’s something I’m going to have to deal with”: Donovan Mitchell on playing with his injury
On Wednesday night, Utah lost their third game in a row to the Los Angeles Clippers and now trail 3-2 in the Western Conference Semis. Mitchell, who aggravated his ankle injury in Game 4, did manage to play 38 minutes of action tonight. However, his performance was rather inefficient as he scored 21 points on 6-19 shooting from the field.
Donovan Mitchell’s right ankle injury should definitely be a matter of concern for the Jazz franchise. The 6-foot-1 swingman had missed the last 16 regular-season games and the first playoff game because of his injury.
Now, Donovan knows he’ll have to figure out a way to play through this injury. After their 119-111 loss against a Kawhi Leonard-less Los Angeles Clippers team, the Utah shooting guard vented out his frustrations. He said:
“It’s something I’m going to have to deal with (the rest of the playoffs). It f***ing sucks. (But) you’ve got to find a way to make it happen. It’s tough, but I’ve got to find a way. Otherwise, I’m going to be home.”

“Trae Young looks like an All-NBA player”: Kendrick Perkins hands rave reviews to Hawks star as they take 3-2 series lead with comeback win vs Sixers
Even though the 24-year-old has played phenomenally well this series, he knows that one bad game and the Clippers could eliminate them and move onto the conference finals.
Unfortunately for Mitchell, he has no choice but to play through the injury. And knowing the fierce competitor he is, we know for a fact he will come out strong in Utah’s do-or-die Game 6. With the series now shifting back to LA, Game 6 will tip-off on Friday night at 10 PM ET.
