The Chelsea player only managed to feature as a substitute against Everton
Where for a majority of Chelsea players, Thomas Tuchel’s arrival has been a blessing with the German manager preferring to adopt new systems and styles for every match, for one player, the dreary run has continued unabated.
Be it Frank Lampard or Tuchel, Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic has failed to get real minutes under both managers this season. Injuries have massively hampered his integration into the club’s gameplan with Pulisic hindering his growth with multitude injuries.
Despite regaining full fitness, the USA player has continued to remain on the periphery of Chelsea’s playing 11. The player failed to make the cut against Everton as well with Tuchel calling him on for only the tailend of Chelsea’s 2-0 triumph.
Tuchel Gives Reason For Pulisic’s Lack Of Action
Having previously managed Pulisic during his time at Borussia Dortmund, Tuchel is someone well aware of what the USMNT man is capable of on the pitch. And he admitted the same when quizzed about Pulisic’s lack of involvement ensuing Chelsea’s triumph on Tuesday.
“Yes, I can say nothing else but good things about him. Maybe his biggest problem is that I know him from Dortmund and I think he started only in the cup games. It is my responsibility and it is a bit unfair but I know what impact he can have in the last 20 or 30 minutes,” Tuchel said.
“He was a bit unlucky in the last few games. It isn’t a lack of trust or quality, it is just that he will have to be patient. I have another guy who I would love to mention in Emerson who suffers from bad decisions by me.
“He does not play but he is an amazing guy who trains at the highest level and he never lets the team down with his mentality. It was a super hard decision today to have him out of the squad, the same with Tammy. It is like this, we have a strong group. The guys have to keep on fighting. There’s no other way.”
