January Transfer News: The Braga David Carmo defender has emerged as a transfer target for both the clubs
With the January transfer window officially opening its doors, the clamour for some of the biggest names in the arena has already reached a frenzy. Clubs are frantically trying to reach out to players and clubs as they look to rope in reinforcements for the second half of the season.
The frenzy has seen the same player be coveted by a slew of clubs with Braga’s David Carmo emerging as one such player. After The Athletic had previously confirmed that Manchester United were interested in the defenders, a bevy of reports have emanated from Portugal talking about Liverpool’s eagerness to sign the player as well.
David Carmo to Premier League?
Liverpool who are currently on a hectic look out for a defender in a bid to bring in cavalry to add to their paper thin backline are said to be actively monitoring the player’s situation. As per Portuguese outfits Record and A Bola along with Dean Jones, Liverpool are likely to make a bid for the player this month.
The 21 year old Portugal based defender fits just the bill Liverpool are scouring for at the moment. Capable of playing on the left side of central defence, the Braga player has not only can ominous presence in the air but is capable of truning over possession as well.
Having only broken into the side’s ranks across the last year, he’s fast made a name for himself to nail down his place in the club’s ranks. Although he currently has a 40 million euro buyout clause, any deal for the player is said to be done at a substantially lower price tag.
Carmo has currently skipped his side’s last two encounters after being diagnosed with COVID.
Liverpool are meanwhile also said to be out on the hunt for Sven Botman, Wober and Ozan Kabak. Despite the club’s adamant refusal of roping in a defender, the side is all but set to conduct business this month with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all ruled out with injuries.
