January Transfer Window: Tottenham’s Interest in Eder Militao Confirmed By Tim Vickery: The Real Madrid defender is very much on Tottenham’s plans this window

Although Jose Mourinho has persistently spoken about Tottenham not interested in roping in a new name in the ongoing winter transfer window, reports from Spain and Italy suggest otherwise.

A slew of outlets including Corriere dello Sport and Todo Ficahjes reported that Mourinho has asked the Tottenham bosses to get a deal done for Real Madrid’s Eder Militao. With Tottenham currently thread bare at the back, the Tottenham man is extremely interested to bolster his ranks for the remainder of the season.

And he’s said to be an avid follower of Eder Militao with the defender’s qualities resonating with Mourinho. Also, with Real Madrid eager to offload the fullback with him falling down the choosing order, a deal could very well be on the cards.

Tottenham’s Interest in Eder Militao

The reports are not unsubstantiated either with Tim Vickery who is well versed with issues in Spanish football asserting that Tottenham are very much in for the defender. Speaking to Football Daily, Todo said that Jose Mourinho is certainly interested in Militao and an impending deal later this month could be transpiring.

Militao who joined Real Madrid only in 2019 for 39 million pounds from Porto has failed to make his place at the club. He’s played a measly 10 matches for the club with his appearances this season being limited to a measly two.

With Zinedine Zidane said to have little faith in the player, Real Madrid have decided its best to try and recoup the money they splurged on the defender. The club is looking at anything in the region of 30 million pounds for selling the player.

However, any deal with Tottenham would only be on a loan basis with the club extremely frugal at the moment when it comes to finances. COVID has dried up the coffers at the club with the side reporting a record loss previously last year.

With Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale having previously joined Tottenham from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, the links between both the clubs are clearly extremely strong. A deal would not be massively difficult to go through if Tottenham decide to up the ante in the upcoming days.
