Jose Mourinho sacking: Manchester United star made contact with Ed Woodward to ‘demand’ the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United parted ways with Jose Mourinho last week, two days after the 3-1 loss to Liverpool. The club appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager until the end of the season.
Mourinho lifted three trophies during his time at the club, but his third season at United was marred with controversy surrounding the problems in the dressing room.
The Portuguese manager’s fall-out in relationship with Paul Pogba marred the season, and the situation became worse after a video of duo arguing during a training session went viral.
And now it has been reported that a player in the dressing room contacted club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to demand the sacking of Mourinho after loss to Liverpool.
Jose Mourinho’s sacking:
According to a report from Sunday Times (via Mirror), the sacking was demanded by one of the players who was regularly used by Jose Mourinho during his tenure at the club.
Manchester United sacked Mourinho two days after the Liverpool defeat.
Shaw: “It’s not nice when something as big as that (Mourinho’s sacking) happens at the club, but I think we, as players and as a team, show respect in what happened. People might be quick to forget what Jose did for #mufc – the three trophies he won – he did a lot.” #mulive [sky]

The Times refused to name the player, but stated that he was an important footballer of the side and a regular first-team player in the squad.
His conversation with Ed Woodward led to a ‘chain of reactions’, which ultimately resulted in the club parting ways with the Portuguese manager.

Manchester United went off to a brilliant start under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the side defeated Cardiff City 5-1. This was the first time when United scored five goals in a Premier League game since Sir Alex Ferguson’s farewell match against West Bromwich Albion.
The side remains at sixth position in the table but moved three points closer to the top-4, as Chelsea dropped points against Leicester as the Blues suffered a stunning defeat.
Rooney: “These players can’t turnaround and say ‘I didn’t perform well because I didn’t have a good relationship with Mourinho’ – thats not acceptable, they have a duty to Man United, to the fans, to the football club to try and perform as well as they can every game.” #mufc [BT]
