Amidst speculations of interest from Barcelona for his son Daley Blind, Danny Blind admits that a departure from Manchester would be a ‘logical’ step.

Recent reports have linked the Manchester United defender who is under contract in June to Barcelona and Inter Milan ahead of the January transfer window.

Daley Blind used to be a certain starter under fellow countryman Louis van Gaal but has become a squad and utility player since Mourinho took over reigns at Old Trafford. Although he has played a very important role in the Champions League this season, Premier League starts have been hard to come.

What can Blind offer?

Blind is a multi-faceted player and can play both as a centre back and a right back in defence. At times he has also played as a central defensive midfielder while his time at United. It is this versatility that Barcelona finds appealing and are of the opinion that he will fit in perfectly at the Camp Nou.

Blind’s father, Danny the legendary Ajax captain told Ziggo Sports “That is not an illogical idea because his contract expires. Manchester United still has the opportunity to trigger an option for an extra season. They might do that because then they can receive a higher transfer fee.”

Danny Blind has his say on the transfer:

“I do not know. I have no idea what United is asking for transfer fee at the moment. I now only respond to a message, eh. He runs out of his contract in the summer, or he stays for another year, if that option is canceled.” his father said when asked about Blind’s contract.

At this moment, Barcelona looks favourites to sign the United defender but even a move to the Serie A cannot be ruled out. Some reports from Italy have indicated towards a serious interest from Inter Milan also. Only time will tell if the Dutchman leaves for Catalonia or Inter Milan or decides to sign an extension at Manchester United.
