WATCH: Alvaro Morata Runs Back The Clock With Torrid Against Atalanta: The Juventus striker spurned a pristine chance to give his side the lead on the day
Across the last couple of years, Alvaro Morata has become one of the most perplexing entities in the world of football. After a gargantuan transfer to Chelsea from Real Madrid, he ended up earning a behemoth transfer to Atletico Madrid, both moves which quickly turned sour due to his horrendous form.
Despite his blatant downtick in form, Morata has continued to remain the subject of colossal transfer fees with Serie A side, Juventus breaking the bank to sign him this decision. And much like his nature, Morata endured a solid opening set of fixtures for the club before quickly regressing and quality.
Taking over from Ronaldo to emerge as the club’s top scorer, Morata is now back to doing what he does best. He’s been lacklustre and abject for the Italians across the last month, failing to justify the behemoth amount the club immersed in him.

The striker’s career was perfectly typified against Atalanta. Handed over one of the easiest chances he’ll get to find the back of the net, Morata ended up with a tame effort to give Juventus the lead against Atalanta.
The incident occurred at the 10 minute mark when Morata ended up playing the ball to Ronaldo despite taking the onus of finishing on himself. Fortuitously enough, Ronaldo’s miskick fell right Morata’s path with a gaping, empty goal awaiting him.
Rather than easily tapping the ball into the net, Morata tried to go for the spectacular. His attempted backheel saw him make a joke out of himself as the attempt went awry to see Juventus miss out on a pinch perfect chance to double their advantage.

The missed opportunity proved to be calamitous with Juventus only managing a 1-1 draw on the day. The result left the reigning points four points adrift of top spot with the third placed side failing to erase the deficit separating them and AC Milan.
