Kalidou Koulibaly tells an incredible story about Maurizio Sarri's insensitive act after former's child got born

Kalidou Koulibaly tells an incredible story about Maurizio Sarri’s insensitive act after former’s child got born few moments before a clash.

Kalidou Koulibaly was in alliance with Maurizio Sarri, when the Italian manager was in charge of Napoli before he took off for Chelsea, only to be over there for a season.

Sarri was highly successful, as he gained prominence with his skillful style of play namely “Sarriball”, he nearly came to end Juventus’ dominance in Serie A, but succumbed to pressure in the final game-days.

Despite, his massive contribution to the Italian outfit, one of his ex-player is not happy with Sarri about the way he was treated while his child was being born few moments before the match.

Koulibaly shared this experience in one of the articles with the Players’ Tribune, over where the Senegalese International revealed the alleged insensitive conduct.

Back in January 2016, the Senegalese defender was received a call from his wife Charline telling him she was going into labour ahead of the game against Sassuolo.

The player was initially scared to ask a permission from Sarri, but eventually stood up. As expected by Koulibaly, Sarri earlier refused to let him go, but gave in after much insistence.

Recalling the events in The Players’ Tribune, Koulibaly said: “Sarri looks at me and says, “No, no, no. I need you tonight, Kouli. I really need you. You can’t go.”

“I say, “This is the birth of my son, Mister. You can do whatever you want to me. Fine me, suspend me, I don’t care. I am going.”

“Sarri looks so stressed, and he is smoking his cigarette. Smoking, smoking, thinking … then finally he says, “O.K., O.K., you can go to the clinic. But you have to be back for the match tonight. I need you, Kouli!””

Koulibaly got to see his child born and later got the permission from his wife to go back to play the match. Upon arrival, he got to see his name was not their in the lineup but on the bench.

“I am getting ready to play, and Sarri comes into the dressing room and puts up the team sheet. And I am looking… looking… looking,” Koulibaly added.

“My number is not there. I said, “Mister! Are you kidding me?” He said, “What? It is my choice. I said, “Mister! My son! My wife! I left them! You said you needed me!” He said, “Yes, we need you on the bench.””

Although, the Senegalese defender got to play the match after he came off the bench on the 22nd minute, but it reflects badly on Sarri’s part on that night.
