Chimaev’s post was intended to poke fun at Costa’s appearance, and he captioned it with a simple “Hello everyone.” The post quickly went viral on social media, fueling an already fiery feud between the two fighters.
Their rivalry stemmed from an altercation from last year. Chimaev was preparing for his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC PI in Las Vegas. Apparently. Costa was also present in the building.
The two faced each other in the training arena. Soon things got heated between them. But they were separated by their friends to avoid further damage.
Chimaev vs. Costa is in the talks
Given their rivalry, it is more likely that both the combatants will soon collide with each other inside the ring. The former UFC title challenger, Chael Sonnen, who is an analyst now recently hinted about this fight.
Sonnen, in an interview with Ariel Helwani, stated that the UFC is working to make Costa vs. Chimaev this year. The fight, per Sonnen, is expected to take place at UFC pay-per-view in Abu Dhabi in October 2023.
In his most recent match, Paulo Costa faced Luke Rockhold in Salt Lake City. Both of them engaged in a battle that lasted three rounds, and Costa ultimately prevailed.
Chimaev, meanwhile, is currently unbeaten in the promotion and just defeated Kevin Holland. If this bout happens, it will undoubtedly result in fireworks inside the cage, given their explosive fighting styles.
