Kieran Trippier outperforms Eden Hazard in the first Madrid derby of season

Kieran Trippier outperforms Eden Hazard in the first Madrid derby of the season, which was played in the 7th round of La Liga last night.

Kieran Tripper has made a move to Atletico Madrid this summer, and the English defender has been phenomenal in the league so far.

Trippier has since then maintained his form and proved out to be a worthy buy for Diego Simeone after their one of the biggest tests of this season. i.e, the Madrid Derby.

Both the city rivals played a goal-less draws, and it was one of the best defensive displays by both the sides ever. Amidst all of this, the new Real Madrid star Eden Hazard played his first Madrid derby last night, and he had all the hype around him ahead of the match.

However, his special night was short lived as his long term rival from the Premier League made it tough for him to do anything significant in the match.

Usually, Hazard’s trickery is too much for Trippier to handle, but in both players’ first Madrid derby, it was actually the Englishman who out-shined the Belgian.

Per Squawka, the 29-year-old completed more take-ons in the first-half, and it’s a statistic that held true for the entire game.

Furthermore, Trippier boasted an 86% passing accuracy rate, compared to 77% for Hazard, and he had 78 touches of the ball during the match, 24 more than the Belgium skipper.

Despite Hazard’s amazing set of skills, the 28-year-old forward didn’t produce a single shot of any kind whilst up against Trippier and he was eventually substituted off for James Rodriguez in the 77th-minute.

Real Madrid fans have been critical of Hazard for his alleged lack of fitness since the start of the season, while under pressure Zinedine Zidane is desperate to see a world class performance by the new signing.
