Kimi Raikkonen has always been a socially averse sports celebrity, one that would be least expected to do an Instagram live.

However, such is the power of the social media world today that even Raikkonen was sucked into it.

Raikkonen’s Instagram live had quite a few questions about his personal life and his career as an F1 driver, one that is certainly in its twilight zone.

Here’s the entire transcript from Kimi’s Instagram live, thanks to our dear friend r/MrMossol from reddit.

Q: Do you read the comments on your Instagram posts?

Kimi: Yeah I do read them sometimes when I have time, not all of them. I try to check some. It’s quite nice. Thanks for all the comments.

Q: Why did you choose F1 instead of rally when you were young?

Kimi: I don’t think there was any really choosing in that time, it just happened to go that direction. It started with motocross first and then in go karts. I dont think it was really like you go this or that way. It just happened to go like that. Obviously, I tried some rally afterwards and I like both of them. But ehm but obviously F1 has been the bigger part, Rally was only a couple of years and might be in the future some more.

Q: Do you still have a gorilla suit?

Kimi: Uhm no I don’t think I have, I don’t remember how many years ago but long time again so no.

Q: Any similarity between Robin and you?

Kimi: I guess there is, obviously I don’t remember how I was as a kid. But when I ask my mom she says that he is very similar and obviously I think I can see myself a lot but then he is more talking.

Q: Which one is your favourite trophy?

Kimi: I think the gorilla (I think it was gorilla?) trophy from this year France is pretty nice, even though a lot of people said it was not. But it is something different so I think thats why it is so nice. Obviously the best is the world championship trophy it is a more important one so.

Q: Is Rianna (his daughter) a daddy’s girl?

Kimi: All the time, when she is growing up she understands more. So for sure I will probably be in trouble with her. But its nice.

Q: Best race of your career?

Kimi: Impossible to really say, there has been a lot of good races. Some more important than others. Japan was a good one in 2005, but the most important ones Brazil in 2007. Lot of also good ones without actually the great end result

Q: Who is the calm parent?

Kimi: Probably me, more than Minttu there is obviously different times and different situations. I think we both handle it well. So yeah that’s a good thing

Q: Where would you like to travel?

Kimi: I think we still haven’t done our honeymoon, and that is in Maldives going to happen one day. I don’t know when, but that is for sure on the list. Honestly apart from that my favorite travel is to go back home because and stay home when I have time with family. Yeah lot of travelling so I don’t really feel like going anywhere on the end of the season. I’ve been in lots of planes and hotels so home is the place for me.

Q: Is Robin interesting in racing and cars?

Kimi: He is a lot interested actually but more in the bikes than the cars. Yes on cars also but right now his interest is more into motocross. We will see in the future what happens and uh if he is still interested later on. Whatever he feels like he wants to do that’s his option and I will support his and Rianna’s future in the best I can. But it’s a bit scary how much he is into cars.

Kimi: Thanks for the questions, and I hope to speak to you soon again. Have a good day and see you.

Kimi Raikkonen would be fairly satisfied with yet another podium finish this season, as he somehow managed to hold onto that 3rd podium spot in Hockenheim, despite all the rain and tension around.

Ferrari though suffered quite the blow in Germany yesterday, with Mercedes registering a 1-2 and Vettel crashing out whilst he was in the lead.

With the Hungarian GP line up for this weekend, the Italian team would be hoping to put the German GP and the illness of Marchionne behind them and hope for a strong outing in Hungary.
