Raikkonen to take part ownership in Sauber

The Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari saga has finally come to an end, with Ferrari making the official announcement that Raikkonen wouldn’t be driving for the team in 2018.

Ahead of the Italian GP, rumours had started doing the rounds of the Ferrari management having already informed Kimi about letting him go, and that in fact has turned out to be true, as Ferrari have just made the official announcement.

“Scuderia Ferrari announces that, at the end of the 2018 season, Kimi Raikkonen will step down from his current role,” Arrivabene said

“During these years, Kimi’s contribution to the team, both as a driver and on account of his human qualities, has been fundamental. He played a decisive role in the team’s growth and was, at the same time, always a great team player.

“As a world champion for Scuderia Ferrari, he will always be part of the team’s history and family. We thank Kimi for all of this and wish him and his family a prosperous future.” he added.

The decision would come as a massive shock to all Kimi Raikkonen fans as Kimi has been driving extremely well for Ferrari this season, matching Vettel for pace during qualifying and race days.

No official announcement has been made regarding Raikkonen’s replacement, but from the looks of it , it seems that Charles Leclerc will in fact get his dream move to Ferrari in 2019.

More to follow.
