The two teams had earlier met in the tournament at Chennai when KKR’s batsmen had failed to cope up with the spin-friendly conditions. After getting bundled out for 108/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs, Knight Riders ended up losing the match by 7 wickets.

In the two matches which Kolkata and Chennai played in IPL 2018, both the teams ended up winnings their respective home games
