The Kolkata Knight Riders, after a strong start, had a bad day at office against the defending champions. They were comprehensively beaten and they would like to quickly move on from this game onto the next one against the Delhi Capitals. When they met the last time, we had an exciting Super Over to determine the result.
The good thing for KKR is that they will be playing at the Eden Gardens after being on the road for 4 consecutive matches. They would like to use the home advantage and the backing of the Kolkata fans to get back to winning ways after the forgettable night at the Chepauk.
The openers need to contribute and the middle order needs to play a little more sensibly for KKR to emerge victorious.

Top-order
KKR’s top order can look the strongest in the League or the weakest in the League depending on the kind of day they have. Chris Lynn has had a couple of good innings in this IPL but apart from that, has not looked very good. However, on the bouncy Eden track, Lynn would definitely be in the team. Sunil Narine will walk into the opener’s slot and look to give KKR that big boost at the start.
Robin Uthappa has looked extremely good in a few innings scoring 183 runs till now. Touted as the most stylish cricketer to watch in the IPL, Robin would like to make it count and have a big knock in the middle. Having played at Kolkata for 6 years now, he will know exactly how to get going on the Eden track.
Middle-order
In spite of a bad day against CSK, it is highly improbable that Dinesh Karthik would look to make any changes in the middle order. Nitish Rana has had a good season so far scoring 169 runs and would like to make a significant contribution yet again.
Dinesh Karthik and Shubman Gill would feature in the middle order and they would look to consolidate the innings and hit a few big ones at the fag end alongwith Muscleman, Andre Russell.

Russell has been outstanding and has shown his temperament by playing through injuries and also playing the role of an anchor when the team needed him to do that. He is arguably been the best man to watch in the IPL so far.
Bowlers
The bowlers have been performing well in the last 2 matches for KKR. Piyush Chawla has been looking good. He can be called upon to break a partnership or bowl in the powerplay.
Sunil Narine was impressive in Chennai and bagged 2 crucial wickets. Kuldeep Yadav has looked a bit off colour but he would need just one good match to be back in the thick of things. The spinners need to pick up more wickets surely.
Prasidh Krishna has been one of the standout pacers in this IPL so far. He can bowl the slower ones, variations as well as balls over 145 kph. He would like to get some wickets under his belt. Harry Gurney might be replaced for Lockie Ferguson on the pacey Eden wicket.
However, Karthik might just try Gurney out for one match at the Eden before considering the swap. Gurney has not done anything wrong and deserves a few more chances.
