Krzysztof Piatek has decided to join Real Madrid over Barcelona.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have enjoyed some off-field battles over the last few decades, but off the field, they have fought for several players including Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, Neymar, Andre Gomes and many others.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are looking for a long-term option up front to lead the line. Karim Benzema has been struggling for goals without their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who decided to join Juventus in the summer transfer window.

On the other hand, Barcelona are seeking a replacement for Luis Suarez who would turn 33 during the next summer. It has become a dilemma with only a few strikers available in the transfer market who would perfectly suit those clubs because of their higher calibre.

It seems both teams have decided to go head-to-head with the Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek who looks increasingly likely to join one of the European giants in the forthcoming summer following a bursting start to this campaign, scoring 13 goals from 19 appearances this term.

According to the Spanish publication Don Balon, the Polish International has chosen to move to Real Madrid over their arch-rivals Barcelona in the upcoming summer. Although the amount is not mentioned, it is believed that anywhere around 60 million would be enough to seal the deal.

The report also adds on that Santiago Solari could make a move as early as in the January transfer window. Karim Benzema has broken his finger which would rule him for at least two weeks, and an injury to Mariano Diaz has forced the Los Blancos manager to make a move for the Italian outfit striker.

He could well make a move in this window keeping in mind that he does not have any other alternative other than the young Cristo Gonzalez of Real Castilla.

On the other hand, Barcelona have lost their striker Paco Alcacer in a permanent deal to Borussia Dortmund and the sale of Munir El Haddadi has made Ernesto Valverde think twice about making a move for the Polish striker.

It will be interesting to see both the team battling out for his signature as both the teams try and press for the signature of Genoa’s striker. At the moment, Real Madrid looks the most likeliest place for the arrival because apart from Karim Benzema, they have not got much quality up front. Any reinforcement would well be on the cards for the Los Blancos in the January transfer window.
